JAMBI - Jambi Police Ditreskrimsus investigators questioned PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) staff regarding the development of an illegal gold trading network case that was revealed some time ago.

"The police are cooperating with PT Antam to clarify the suspect's statement stating the alleged flow of the illegal gold trade from several suspects to PT Antam," said Director of Criminal Investigation at the Jambi Police Kombes Sigit Dany Setiyono when confirmed by reporters, Antara, Thursday, January 13.

Antam's investigation was carried out to explore the suspect's statement which stated that some of the illegal gold that had been processed was sold to PT Antam using a certificate from a gold shop in West Sumatra.

Sigit added that his party is currently still exploring the mechanism for the purchase procedure, then the purity carried out by PT Antam. "PT Antam is very cooperative, we will continue to work together to continue to clarify these statements," he said.

Meanwhile, PT Antam's staff when questioned by reporters after the investigation at the Jambi Regional Police Headquarters refused to provide information. "We did not provide any information. Regarding this case, the Jambi Police have named six suspects with the initials IW (43), DP (38), HG (40), IM (51) and AS (72), as well as a police officer with the initials MM.

In addition to naming the six suspects, the Jambi Police also secured evidence in the form of a number of gold bars with a total weight of approximately 3 kg, as well as cash of approximately Rp. 1.6 billion which is suspected to be used as capital to buy gold from illegal gold mining in the Jambi region.
