Chicken Prices In Cianjur Market Rise To Rp. 40,000 Per Kilogram, Merchants Complain About The Lack Of Buyers

CIANJUR - The Department of Cooperatives, MSMEs, Trade and Industry, Cianjur, West Java, assessed that the increase in chicken meat prices was due to the high price of feed since the last one month.

Currently, the price of chicken in a number of markets in Cianjur, West Java is around Rp. 40,000 per kilogram. Previously, the price was relatively cheap in the range of Rp. 34 thousand.

Chicken trader at Pasar Muka Cianjur, Deden (34), said the price of chicken meat has been creeping up since the end of 2021 and is still rising until now.

"The normal price of chicken meat is Rp. 32 thousand per kilogram, but since the end of the year the price has continued to creep up until the second week of January. The high price of feed has forced farmers to increase prices, including at the agent level," he said in Cianjur, Antara, Thursday, January 13.

Crawling the increase in the price of chicken meat also makes the level of sales decrease. Before going up, traders can sell up to 50 kilograms. However, currently the highest sales per day is at 20 kilograms.

The same thing was said by a trader at the Pasar Induk Pasirhayam, Cianjur, Andri Willy. Since the last two weeks, Andri admitted that the level of sales decreased.

"A week ago we were still selling at Rp. 34,000 per kilogram, but this week the price has crept up because animal feed is expensive. We hope that the increase will not soar because the impact will be low for buyers," he said.

Head of Cianjur Diskoperindagin, Toohari Sastra, added that his party is still monitoring and collecting data on the exact cause of the increase in chicken meat prices.

"We will continue to monitor what causes the high price of chicken meat, even though information from agents and distributors is due to the high price of feed, so farmers raise prices. If in the third week there is still an increase, we will coordinate with Bulog to hold market operations," he said.
