BANDA ACEH - The Banda Aceh SAR team evacuated a Chinese citizen who was sick after having an accident on the ship where he worked.

Head of the Banda Aceh National SAR Agency (Basarnas) Budiono said the victim was named Yang Daqi, male, 29 years old, with a Chinese passport.

"The victim had a work accident after falling on the deck or deck of the ship and suffered an open wound on the forehead," said Budiono in Banda Aceh, Antara, Thursday, January 13.

The victim, Yang Daqi, was a crew member of the Marshall Islands-flagged MV Xin Hai Tong. The ship sailed from Ivory Coast, Africa, bound for Singapore.

Previously, Budiono said, Basarnas Banda Aceh received a request for medical evacuation from the cargo ship MV Xin Hai Tong after a crew member had a work accident on the ship on Wednesday.

Budiono said the evacuation was carried out in the waters of the Bengal Strait, between Aceh Island in Aceh Besar Regency and Weh Island, Sabang City, with a distance of 7.46 nautical miles from Ulee Lheue Port, Banda Aceh City.

"The evacuation was carried out with the SAR ship KN Kresna 232. KN Kresna moved from Ulee Lheue Port on Thursday at 02.15 WIB. It took about three hours for the SAR ship to dock to the victim's ship for the evacuation process," Budiono said.

Budiono said that the victim was then taken to Ulee Lheue Port to be taken using an ambulance from the Port Health Office (KKP) to the Zainoel Abidin Regional General Hospital, Banda Aceh.

"With the completion of the medical evacuation, the SAR operation was stopped and the personnel involved were returned to their respective units. The evacuation also involved immigration officers," Budiono said.
