DKI Deputy Governor Called PSBB Transition Extended Again

JAKARTA - Thursday, August 27, is the last day of the transitional PSBB period in DKI. Deputy Governor of DKI Ahmad Riza Patria said that the transitional PSBB will be extended for the fifth time.

"Yes, we are still extending the transitional PSBB for 2 weeks," said Riza when met at the DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, Thursday, August 27.

Even though it will be extended, until now there has been no official announcement made by the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan.

The legal basis regarding the extension of the transitional PSBB has also not been issued. Even so, Riza said the announcement and rules will come out the next day.

"The regulations will come out. God willing, the extension of the transitional PSBB tomorrow will be announced. Just wait," he said.

Riza explained, the reason for the PSBB transition being extended is because the development of the number of COVID-19 cases in Jakarta is still quite high. In fact, as of today, new cases of COVID-19 reached 820 cases, with an accumulation of 36,462 cases.

The positivity rate or the percentage of positive cases in the past week in Jakarta was 9.9 percent. This figure is above the standard set by the World Health Organization (WHO) by no more than 5 percent.

"The numbers are still quite high. The important thing is that everything is under control, under control. Controlled means the numbers are high because of the many tests, then we are tracing (contact tracing) and treatment," he said.

For information, Anies has extended the PSBB transition period for four times, starting from July 3 to July 16, July 17 to July 30, and July 31 to August 13, August 14 to 27, and currently the transitional PSBB has been extended again.

Actually, there are three options that can be made, namely to extend the transitional PSBB, apply emergency brakes, and loosen the PSBB phase two transition towards a safe and productive society.

However, until now Anies has never decided to relax the transitional PSBB phase, by allowing all entertainment activities in closed spaces to resume operations, such as the gym, swimming pool, karaoke rooms and discotheques. Emergency brake is also not an option.
