JAKARTA - The Education and Teacher Association (P2G) received a report that there was a school canteen in DKI Jakarta and several other areas that violated the face-to-face learning (PTM) rules.

In fact, at this time, school canteens are still prohibited from opening in order to minimize the spread of COVID-19 even though PTM has been running with a capacity of 100 percent of students.

"We have received reports from Jakarta and outside the region that schools are secretly opening their canteens, even though they are prohibited," said Head of the P2G Teacher Advocacy Division, Iman Zanatul Haeri in a statement, Wednesday, January 12.

Iman said that one of the reasons why the canteen was secretly open was that not all students brought lunch from home, because their parents worked and did not have a household assistant.

"So the school took the initiative to open a canteen. So the school is also in a real dilemma," said Iman.

In addition, violations of health protocols also often occur. P2G still finds many students crowding around when checking the temperature upon arrival at school. In addition, air ventilation in a number of classes is also inadequate.

In fact, said Iman, one junior high school in the Riau Archipelago had difficulty scanning the Care Protect barcode when entering school. "Finally, because they avoid crowds, some children enter school without having a scan," he said.

The findings of several schools that have violated health procedures, such as in Jakarta, Pandeglang, Cilegon, Bogor Regency, Bengkulu, Agam Regency, South Solok, Situbondo, to Bima. "Essentially, this is happening in all areas that have 100 percent PTM," he added.

Therefore, P2G urges the government to increase supervision of the implementation of health protocols in all schools that run PTM. According to him, the Education Office should not only receive written reports, but also go directly to schools to make sure.

"We ask the Education Office or the Task Force to conduct inspections. I am sure, for example, the DKI Disdik or the DKI COVID-19 Task Force inspecting schools, will find many violations of the 4 Ministerial Decree," said Iman.

If necessary, P2G asks the government to evaluate the implementation of PTM by reducing the capacity of students studying in schools.

"For example, 50 percent first, the next two weeks it will increase by 75 percent, the next two weeks if the evaluation is safe, there are no clusters, school residents obey health protocols, it can only be 100 percent," he added.
