JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, has confirmed that her party will immediately ratify the Sexual Violence Criminal Act (TPKS) as an initiative of the DPR on Tuesday, January 18. Furthermore, it will be discussed together with the government. "Alhamdullilah, the DPR and the government have certainly agreed to discuss the TPKS Bill so that it becomes a law that will later benefit the interests of the community, especially women," said Puan at the DPR Building, Tuesday, January 11. Puan emphasized that the discussion of the TPKS Bill would be accelerated so that it could be passed into law as soon as possible. Even so, it guarantees that the legislation product will not be legally flawed. "The target is as soon as possible and open discussion, accommodating input from the public and then article by article. It will be discussed together between the government team so that it is in accordance with the good intentions and expectations of all of us, useful for the future and as a law that is not legally flawed," said Puan. Regarding the mechanism, the Chairperson of the PDIP DPP explained that this week the DPR leadership will hold a meeting (rapim) and a deliberation body to bring the TPKS Bill to a plenary meeting agenda. "We will agree on all of that. Later we will convey it or we will discuss it with the government. So that's later," he explained.
