Specialist Of The DKI Provincial Government Assets Iron Thief Arrested By Menteng Police Buser Team

JAKARTA - David (34), a suspect in the theft of pavement iron on Jalan Diponegoro, Menteng, was arrested by the Menteng Polsektro Polsektro's Buser. The officer explained that the iron is an asset belonging to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for Menteng Metro Police, Kompol Alvin Pratama, said that after carrying out the investigation process, the Buser team managed to arrest David, who is listed as a Scout resident, Utan Kayu, East Jakarta.

"Members arrested the suspect at the location shortly after successfully cutting the iron rod," Kanit told reporters, Monday, January 10.

The arrest of the suspect began with a video that had gone viral. In the video, the perpetrator can be seen cutting the iron rods on the pavement. Alvin explained that David was not the person in the viral video. However, continued Alvin, David also performed the same action as in the video in question.

"This suspect is different from the video circulating, but the way of acting is almost the same. We are still investigating whether this suspect is a gang in the video that was circulated," explained Alvin.

Buser's team manages to catch David while trying to transport the stolen iron rods using a sledgehammer.

"At the location there are two iron rods, but in the suspect's storage area there are two more. So in total we have secured 4 iron rods," he said.

In order to account for his actions, David was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code sub-Article 362 regarding theft with a penalty of 5 years in prison.
