President Jokowi Scheduled To Check Mandalika Circuit MotoGP Preparations

PRAYA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to make a working visit to Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara in order to check the readiness of the Mandalika Circuit MotoGP this week.

"We are ready to accept President Joko Widodo's arrival," said The Mandalika Assistant Vice President (AVP) I Made Pari Wijaya. in Praya, Central Lombok Regency, quoted by Antara, Monday, January 10.

In addition to checking the preparation of supporting facilities for the Mandalika Circuit, he said, the President would also look at the development of the Lombok Airport-Mandalika Bypass route, which was inaugurated in 2021.

"The progress of supporting facilities for the Mandalika Circuit continues to be carried out, it is confirmed that it will be completed before the MotoGP event in March 2022," he said.

Previously, the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) continued to improve the completeness of the implementation of the race as well as supporting facilities and infrastructure for the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit in order to meet the requirements for homologation for the implementation of the 2022 MotoGP.

MGPA also continues to coordinate intensively with a number of parties, such as the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI), Dorna Sports, and the International Motorcycle Racing Federation (FIM) to fulfill the homologation requirements based on FIM provisions.

MGPA Vice CEO Cahyadi Wanda is optimistic that everything can be met and pass homologation before the race takes place.

"We have received appreciation from the drivers and crew of the WSBK racing team for the quality of our circuit track after the 2021 race is over. However, there are several things that we have to improve," said Cahyadi.

Meanwhile, Director of Operations and Business Innovation Arie Prasetyo welcomed the announcement of Dorna Sports which has determined the implementation of MotoGP in Indonesia on 18-22 March 2022 and the Superbike World Championship (WSBK) on 11-13 November 2022.

"This is a testament to Dorna Sports' confidence in the readiness of the First Mandalika International Street Circuit in holding a world-class motorcycle racing event. We are also improving the quality of supporting facilities and infrastructure to increase the comfort of the racing team and spectators present," he said.

The Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok, NTB will host the MotoGP pre-season test on 11-13 February and will become the MotoGP racing arena on 21-23 March.
