Celebrating 49th Anniversary, Megawati Hopes PDIP Continues To Exist

JAKARTA - PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri hopes that the party she leads can continue to exist. Moreover, long history has accompanied the steps of this party bearing the bull symbol in the country.

This was conveyed by Megawati when delivering her political speech online at the 49th Anniversary of the PDI-P. She said her party has a long history.

"How the PDI-P's track record is colored by an unyielding spirit. A fire spirit that never goes out," said Megawati when opening her speech, Monday, January 10.

"The history of the PDI-P is very long. I call it from PDI to PDI-P," she added.

She then recounted how the PDI-P started with the Indonesian National Party (PNI) which was formed by the first President of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno until finally becoming PDI which was founded on January 10, 1973.

"The various romantics, the dialectics of these struggles have made the PDI-P as a party that stands firmly because of the historical struggle. It is the values of this struggle that we continue to reflect on while always doing criticism, self-criticism so that we don't forget the will of the people who continues to be the handle," she said.

"Every time I remember the entire history of the PDI-P, I always ask that the party I lead can exist as long as the Indonesian nation exists, the Indonesian state exists. It exists forever," added the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia.

PDIP held its 49th anniversary today. The activity was carried out in a hybrid manner from a number of locations and online.

In this activity, President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin attended online. In addition, ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet were also present, including those who also served as general chairmen of parties in Indonesia.

They are Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, who is the General Chair of the Gerindra Party and the Coordinating Minister for the Economy as well as the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto.

The event starts at 09.00 western Indonesia time. Before the main event begins, the PDIP will carry out a flag ceremony, namely installing one Red and White flag and 49 Party flags simultaneously throughout Indonesia.
