Remember, Cover Letter Of RT/RW Or Village/Residence Is Not Needed To Manage Change Of Domicile

JAKARTA - The Director-General of Dukcapil (Population and Civil Registration Agency) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, reminded the public that managing domicile changes no longer require a cover letter from the RT/RW to the village or sub-district.

This is in line with the elimination of additional requirements in managing population documents for the sake of simplifying public services. So, it is enough to go directly to the local Dukcapil Office for domicile changes.

"Moving residents in one district/city, it is enough to show a family card (KK) only. There is no need for a cover letter," said Zudan through a statement on the official website of the Ministry of Home Affairs, quoted on Monday, January 10.

The abolition of the cover letter for domicile change, said Zudan, was not without reason. Population data in Dukcapil is complete, so it does not require verification from the RT/RW or village/kelurahan.

Only residents who move between districts/cities or between provinces will be provided with SKP by the Dukcapil Office of origin to be given to the destination area.

"Unless the population has not been recorded in the database, it is necessary to introduce the RT/RW to make a NIK for the first time," said Zudan.

He asked the Heads of the Dukcapil Service to check up to officers at the residence/village or sub-district level, and replace or even remove officers who did not serve well.

"So, if the head of the service still puts up on the website, moving residents need an introduction to the RT/RW to the village, I will give strict sanctions, including in sub-districts and sub-districts who still ask for introduction requirements which are no longer held in legislation," he clarified.

It is known, the abolition of the requirement for a cover letter to change domicile refers to Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 96 of 2018, and Minister of Home Affairs Regulation (Permendagri) Number 108 of 2019.
