One More Step, Akhyar Nasution-Salman Alfarisi Declare to Run Medan Election

JAKARTA - One more step, Akhyar Nasution-Salman Alfarisi will be declared as the candidate for the mayor-deputy mayor of Medan. This pair will challenge Bobby Nasution-Aulia Rachman.

The Democrats and PKS promoted Akhyar Nasution-Salman duet. Both of them have enough seats to nominate candidates in the Medan Election.

"Let's wait, the Akhyar-Salman duet," said Chief Volunteer for Akhyar, Suwandi Purba, Wednesday, August 26.

Akhyar Nasution currently serves as the acting (Plt) Mayor of Medan. Meanwhile, Salman, Acting Chairman of the Medan PKS DPD, is the Deputy Chair of the North Sumatra DPRD. 

The meeting between Akhyar, Salman, the Democratic, and PKS officials was delayed. It was because Akhyar was positive for COVID-19. Now, after his recovery, and he returns to duty at Pemko Medan, they reschedule the meeting.

"Akhyar and Salman will meet directly with the supporting political parties," said Suwandi.

Previously, Salman Alfarisi confirmed that the Democrat coalition with PKS remains solid. PKS emphasized that Salman wanted to bring up its cadres in the Medan Pilkada.

"The coalition remains on the track. But since Akhyar is in self-isolation, we are waiting for him to recover. After his recovery, the coalition process will continue,” said Salman, Wednesday, August 12 evening.

"Our spirit is to create democratic Pilkada contestation. We hope that the public will have many choices. So, the elected will truly be able to bring Medan to be a better place," said Salman.

In the opposing coalition camp, Bobby Nasution-Aulia Rachman was supported by the PDI-P. Gerindra joined the coalition and placed its cadre as a candidate for deputy mayor of Medan. Bobby also gets supports from the National Mandate Party and Golkar.
