The Indonesian Presidency At The G20 Prioritizes World Health Architecture

JAKARTA - World health architecture is one of Indonesia's priorities in the G20 presidency held by Indonesia in 2022.

This was conveyed by the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi in the Annual Press Statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (PPTM) in 2022.

"The G20 Indonesia 2022 presidency is also expected to be a catalyst in the recovery of the world economy due to the COVID-19 pandemic," said Retno, quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 6.

This focus is one of Indonesia's three focuses in the G20 presidency, in addition to energy transition and digital transformation.

In addition, the Foreign Minister also said that Indonesia wants the G20 to be a catalyst for global recovery and concrete cooperation that is beneficial for developing countries.

Retno highlighted the gap in COVID-19 vaccination, where based on data from the World Health Organization or WHO, there are 41 countries where the COVID-19 vaccination rate has not yet reached 10 percent, and 98 countries with less than 40 percent vaccination rate.

Indonesia also continues to fight for equal access to vaccines for all countries, including through the COVAX Facility.

“The COVID-19 pandemic teaches us to improve national and global health resilience. Long-term cooperation is needed, including to strengthen the national health infrastructure and the health industry, both for medicines and vaccines," said the Foreign Minister.
