Heboh Spirit Doll, Muhammadiyah: Islamic Teachings Cannot Raise Puppets As Children

JAKARTA - The Central Executive of Muhammadiyah stated that scientifically and religiously it is impossible and unreasonable for a spirit doll to enter a doll, as is currently becoming a trend among Indonesian influencers.

"Regarding the spirit according to Islamic teachings, I believe, it has been stored by Allah in the barzah realm, so they cannot be summoned or asked for help because they are resting, either good people or bad people," said Head of Muhammadiyah Central Executive Dadang Kahmad in written statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, January 6.

A spirit doll or spirit doll is a term for a doll that is considered to have been entered by the spirit of a dead child. For spirit doll owners, these dolls are treated with care like caring for a human baby.

Dadang Kahmad considered that Islamic teachings do not allow raising dolls as children. Except, the doll is just a toy.

"It's also not allowed to raise children to dolls. Except for ordinary dolls for enjoyment," he said.

Because religion and science do not make sense, Dadang advised that everything should be based on monotheism, namely worshiping and asking Allah SWT. only.

"It is not permissible to ask other than Allah for wealth or anything else," said Dadang.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the PP Muhammadiyah Special Da'wah Institute (LDK), Faozan Amar, assessed that the laws for spirit puppets that are currently being owned by several influential people can vary. If the doll is kept just for collection and play, then this is considered permissible (permissible).

"It's okay, if it's just a hobby for fun, there's no other purpose," he said.

On the other hand, if the owner of the spirit doll is a Muslim and thinks that the doll can bring harm or good luck, then this, according to him, can be categorized as harming the creed of monotheism.

"(Shirk) because they believe there is a spirit in a doll that brings good luck," he said.

Because it threatens the faith, the law is permissible to keep dolls turned into makruh and even sinful for the case of Muslims who take care of spirit dolls.

According to him, rather than adopting a spirit doll, Faozan thinks it is better to adopt an orphan or channel funds to an orphanage to help children in need.
