Tanjungpinang Mayor Returns Rp2.3 Billion State Money

TANJUNGPINANG - Special Criminal Assistant for the Riau Islands High Prosecutor's Office, Sugeng Riadi, stated that Tanjungpinang Mayor Rahma and Deputy Mayor Endang Abdullah had returned state money worth Rp2.3 billion and Rp139 million to the regional treasury, respectively.

"The return will not go through the Prosecutor's Office, but will go directly to the regional treasury around early December 2021," said Sugeng in Tanjungpinang, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 5.

Sugeng said the money that had been returned was an additional employee income (TPP) received by Rahma and Endang Abdullah.

His party, he said, could not confirm whether there was a criminal element related to the TPP proceeds from the two regional leaders.

"Maybe they want to end the conflict, that's why the money was returned," he said.

However, he emphasized that the ongoing investigation regarding the public reports regarding the alleged corruption in the TPP was still ongoing.

In fact, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Tanjungpinang have already undergone one examination at the Riau Islands Prosecutor's Office in Senggarang.

"A total of nine witnesses have been examined, including the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Tanjungpinang," said Sugeng.

Based on the results of the investigation, he said, his party will discuss to proceed to the next stage.

"After that, conclusions will be drawn. The results will be announced to the public soon," said Sugeng.

The Riau Islands High Prosecutor's Office investigated the alleged corruption case against the TPP ASN of the Tanjungpinang City Government involving Mayor Rahma and Deputy Mayor Endang Abdullah.

The investigation was carried out based on the results of a review of public reports regarding irregularities in the Mayor's Regulation (Perwako) Number 56 of 2019 concerning the 2020-2021 ASN TPP.

In the report, it was stated that the Perwako was impressed only to enrich the Tanjungpinang City Regional Head.
