Gibran Ensures 100 Percent Face-to-face Learning Starting February

SOLO - Mayor of Surakarta Gibran Rakabuming Raka ensured face-to-face learning (PTM) is 100 percent starting in February 2022 following the acceleration of vaccinations carried out by the government for students.

"Next week's PTM will be 100 percent for grade 9, next week will be for grade 8, so gradually it will be 100 percent in February," he said in Solo, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 5.

However, he said, elementary school students must pay attention to the schoolchildren's immunization month schedule (BIAS), which is currently still running.

"This is outside the BIAS, yes, if the target is February for the vaccine to be completed. Yes, we really have to wait for the vaccine to be finished, 'mesakke' (poor little one, we want everyone to be safe," he said.

In addition, the regional government also pays attention to the spike in cases that may occur after the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year holidays.

"We will see whether there is a spike in cases or not, whether there is a new variant or not. We are taking care of it really, just gradually because we don't want to be rash," he said.

Previously, the Head of the Surakarta City Health Office (DKK) Siti Wahyuningsih said that until two days ago the COVID-19 vaccination for children for the 6 -11 year old group in Solo had reached 56.69 percent.

"Everything is still on one dose, today the vaccine has also started for first graders," he said.

However, he said, for the first graders of elementary school who received this vaccine, there were not too many because they had to be far from BIAS.

"The vaccines for grade 3, 4, and 6 students have been completed. We will still comb those who were sick yesterday. Now there are 25.541 children who have been vaccinated," he said.
