AGO Ensures That Burned Building Security Systems Work Well

JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) ensures that the security system is functioning properly before the fire incident occurs. The fires that broke out last weekend destroyed the entire building.

"We convey that all efforts to secure the building I think have been maximal," said Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) at the AGO, Hari Setiyono, told reporters, Tuesday, August 25.

When the fire broke out on the evening of Saturday, August 22, there were no employees working. This includes the 6th floor of the building which is called the beginning of the fire.

"It also happened to be on holiday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday when there was no activity there, the fire occurred," said Hari.

"There are also those who say, 'Sir, fortunately not at work. If at work, it can cause a lot of casualties.' But I denied it. I thought otherwise. If someone was working, as soon as a fire broke out, it could be put out immediately," he added.

Therefore, Hari asked the community not to think about the cause of the fire. The AGO leaves it entirely to the police who are conducting the investigation.

"It is better if we wait for the authorities who are competent in investigating and investigating the cause of the fire," said Hari.

Previously, the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) said that the Attorney General's Office building was not included in the insured asset. Therefore, the government will budget for renovation funds for buildings that were burned down last weekend.

Director General of State Assets, Isa Rachmatarwata, said that the government will allocate Rp161 billion to renovate the main building of the Attorney General's Office.

However, according to him, this budget could increase if the building had to be rebuilt from scratch.

"The building is already 70 years old and the value could be Rp155 billion, some of which could be Rp161 billion, depending on the estimate," Isa said at the KiTa State Budget press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 25.

The Ministry of Finance continued Isa is still waiting for a decision from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR). PUPR will determine the renovation or rebuilding of the Attorney General's building.
