Ministry Of Social Distributes Second Phase Aid For Aceh Flood Victims

BANDA ACEH - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) has distributed two stages of panic assistance for victims affected by floods in a number of areas in Aceh.

"Aid from the State Budget (Kemensos) for flood-affected residents in Aceh has fallen in two stages," said Head of the Aceh Social Service (Dinsos) Yusrizal in Banda Aceh, quoted by Antara, Monday, January 3.

Previously, due to heavy rains that hit a number of areas in Aceh since Friday, December 31, 2021, it had resulted in flooding in several districts/cities.

Flood conditions to this day have submerged a number of areas in North Aceh, East Aceh, Langsa City, Aceh Tamiang, to Bener Meriah Regency.

To this day, tens of thousands of residents from various areas have been forced to flee, and most of them are from North Aceh, namely 25,032 residents

Yusrizal said that the first aid from the Ministry of Social Affairs had been distributed on Saturday, January 1, 2022, for the East Aceh region in the form of 1 ton of eggs, 100 boxes of instant noodles, and 90 kilograms of cooking oil.

Then, 72 packs of children's food, 50 mattresses, 40 rolls of tents, 20 packs of family kits, 50 blankets and one unit of a 2,800 watt generator.

In the second stage, continued Yusrizal, today the Ministry of Social Affairs has distributed 420 packages of ready-to-eat food for East Aceh, one unit of red fiber boat, and 150 red roll tents.

"Furthermore, 150 sheets of mattresses, 200 sheets of blankets, 100 units of mattresses, two units of multipurpose family tents, 200 packs of baby diapers and sanitary napkins each," he said.

As for Langsa City, said Yusrizal, in this second stage the Ministry of Social Affairs has assisted 300 packages of ready-to-eat food, 100 packages of food ware.

Then there are roll tents, mattresses, blankets and mattresses of 100 sheets each. 200 packs of baby diapers and sanitary napkins each, as well as one fiber boat unit.

"This assistance is gradual in nature according to existing needs. But of course we have coordinated with social pillars in the region, and supported soup kitchens to consolidate data collection," said Yusrizal.
