Squeeze Residents Admit PPKM Officers Use Airsof Gun, Bantul Prosecutor Demands Angky Wicaksana 18 Months In Prison

BANTUL - The Bantul District Prosecutor's Office, Special Region of Yogyakarta, has sued Angky Wicaksana Setiatama, an extortion defendant who claimed to be an officer for the enforcement of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) with a prison sentence of 18 months.

"The demand from the Bantul Kejari (District Attorney) is one year and six months in accordance with Article 368 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code," said Bantul Public Prosecutor (JPU) Heni Indri Astuti when met after the trial of the case at the Bantul District Court, Antara , Monday, January 3rd.

According to the Public Prosecutor, the claim has considered aggravating and mitigating factors. The mitigating factor is that the defendant has never committed a crime and the defendant did this because he needed money for his wife's medical expenses.

"What is considered burdensome is because they claim to be PPKM officers, so this makes the PPKM officers not have a good image, so it is feared that in the future PPKM officers when carrying out their duties will cause people to distrust," he said.

The prosecutor said the extortion case claimed that the PPKM officer took place on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at around 02.00 WIB in the morning on a road near an angkringan shop in the Ngestiharjo Village area, Kasihan District, where the defendant was carrying an "airsoft gun" at that time.

"So the defendant Angky from home had an intention to make money for his wife who was sick and brought a dead airsoft gun. But the point was that he wanted to be able to earn money with that weapon," he said.

He continued on the road that the person concerned admitted to being a PPKM officer and then found a crowd at the angkringan, and immediately asked the identity of the residents who were crowding the stall.

"Those with ID cards were told to leave, but only two minors, or 15 years old who didn't have ID cards, were asked to leave, after about 100 meters they were asked to stop and take their cell phones, fearing an 'airsof gun'," he said.

Then the defendant asked the two victims to squat in the opposite direction, but about 10 meters after that, the defendant left with two cellphones with him.

"At that time the victim saw (the defendant left), but could not catch up, then the victim immediately reported the incident to the police and the next day the police arrested him immediately," he said.

Meanwhile, in a virtual trial, the defendant filed for leniency on the prosecution submitted by the prosecutor, because he admitted his guilt and promised not to repeat the same act, and was responsible for the wife's medical expenses.

Chairman of the Panel of Judges Dwi Melaningsih accompanied by members Dian Yustisia and Agus Supriyono after listening to the prosecutor's demands and the defendant's response will consider making a decision, and will hold a verdict hearing at the Bantul District Court on Monday, March 10.
