The vandalism incident is thought to have been triggered by the viral lecture of a cleric from the As-Sunnah Islamic Boarding School who said the Selaparang Graves, Sukarbela, Alibatu tain basong (dog droppings).

The Minister of Religion asked the security forces to investigate this case according to the applicable law. He also asked residents to remain calm and not be provoked by emotions.

The Minister of Religion also asked the local Ministry of Religion to immediately take proactive steps so that this case is quickly resolved and peace in East Lombok is restored.

Regarding the allegations of insults conveyed by the Islamic boarding school cleric, the Minister of Religion reminded that the lecturers should prioritize polite ways and without provoking the congregation. According to him, the act of provocation will be able to provoke public emotion. Lecturers must uphold mutual respect and appreciation.
