'So If Someone Says Bahar Is Absent, It's A Hoax', He Said At The West Java Regional Police

BANDUNG - Lecturer Bahar Smith said his presence at the West Java Police Headquarters to undergo an investigation into the hate speech case involving him was a rebuttal to the assumption that he would be absent from police calls.

"From ancient times until now... So if someone says Bahar is absent, it's a hoax. Since the Criminal Investigation Department, cyber crime, I've always been here because I'm a good citizen, I have to be cooperative," said Bahar Smith, at the West Java Regional Police, Bandung, West Java, reported by Antara, Monday, January 3.

He also confirmed that he had received a summons that had been sent by the West Java Regional Police on Thursday, December 30, 2021. Previously, the police had also visited his house to submit an Investigation Commencement Order.

However, until now the police have not explained in detail the hate speech case involving him. The police only explained that the case was related to his lecture in Margaasih District, Bandung Regency, West Java, some time ago.

"I received an SPDP letter from the West Java Regional Police investigator, then received a summons, so I came here as my obligation," said the long blonde haired lecturer. Previously, the examination of her was planned to be carried out at 09.00 WIB. Before being examined she was tested for antigen at the Special Service Office for Women and Children of the West Java Police, then entered the General Crime Investigation Directorate Building at around 12.30 WIB.

He was reported on suspicion of hate speech at a lecture activity in Bandung Regency with letter number B 6354/12/2021 SPKT PMJ 2021. In that investigation, the police applied Article 28 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 45A paragraph (2) Law Number 19/2016 concerning amendments to Law No. 11/2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE) and/or Article 14 and Article 15 of Law No. 1/1946 concerning Criminal Law Regulations.
