JAKARTA - The Head of the DKI Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, reminded the public to sort their waste to reduce the amount of waste sent to the Bantargebang TPST.
Asep said that sorting and removing waste according to the schedule for transportation at the RW level was stated in the Governor's Regulation Number 77 of 2020 concerning Waste Management in the Scope of the Community Association.
"We really want the whole community to be able to carry out this waste reduction pattern continuously so that it becomes a movement, even a new culture for the citizens of Jakarta," said Asep in his statement, Monday, December 3.
Asep explained that the public can sort waste into four categories, namely biodegradable waste, recycled material waste, household hazardous and toxic waste (B3), and residual waste.
The biodegradable waste that has been sorted in each house is collected at the RW level for communal processing through composting, BSF Maggot Bioconversion, Ecoenzyme, and other biological processing activities.
Meanwhile, recycled material waste can be brought to the Waste Bank in each RW to be sold to the recycling industry.
"A circular economic cycle can be realized and the community will also benefit economically," said Asep. As for the type of household B3 waste and residual waste, it will be collected and transported specifically by the Environmental Service Officer for further processing. This waste will be taken to the Bantargebang TPST to be processed so that it does not pollute the environment.
Thus, with scheduled waste sorting and transportation, Asep said he could build a new paradigm of waste management involving community participation by emphasizing the aspect of reducing waste at the source.
“The spearhead of this movement is in the field of waste management (BPS) RW. Those who manage waste management in their respective RWs collaborate with all residents,” explained Asep.
