JAKARTA - A total of 122 terrorism convicts pledged allegiance to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) throughout 2021. Most of the Class IIA Narcotics Correctional Institution (Lapas) Gunung Sindur with a total of 68 inmates, followed by 13 inmates from the Class I Batu Nusakambangan Penitentiary. and 9 terrorist convicts in Class II A Pasir Putih Nusakambangan Prison.

In his pledge, the terrorist convicts pledged allegiance to upholding the Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, and participating in protecting the entire Indonesian homeland from all acts of terrorism that could divide the unity and integrity of the Indonesian nation.

The Pledge of Faithfulness to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia aims as a form of implementation of the final results of the deradicalization program, which is pronounced as a form of sincerity and binding determination and enthusiasm, to emphasize that prisoners exposed to terrorism are willing to rebuild the life of the nation and state within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

The Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Directorate General of Corrections, Rika Aprianti revealed that the Pledge of Allegiance to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia that was implemented was one of the successful forms of fostering the Correctional Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) in the deradicalization program for terrorism prisoners.

"With this statement of loyalty to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, it means that the fostered citizens are ready to love the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and jointly maintain Pancasila by respecting existing differences and understanding that Pancasila is not only domiciled as the State Foundation of the Republic of Indonesia but also as a National Ideology, View of the Life of the Indonesian Nation, Uniting the Nation," said Rika.

The implementation of the Deradicalization Program also involves related law enforcement officers such as the BNPT, TNI, POLRI, Densus 88, BIN, the Ministry of Social Affairs and other Stake Holders.

“We hope that this can be the beginning for our fellow inmates to become members of the community who are aware of their rights and obligations as individuals, communities, and as citizens. Act and behave as a human servant of God, who is able to use creativity, taste, and intention appropriately, so that they can be fair, have faith and fear God Almighty in accordance with their respective religions and beliefs," he added.

By carrying out the Pledge of Allegiance to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, terrorism convicts return to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia with the motto Bhineka Tunggal Ika, and raise awareness of State Defense to maintain the unity and integrity of the Indonesian Nation.
