East Java Governor Values There Is No Figure Equal To Gus Dur's Figure

SURABAYA - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa assesses that until now there is no equivalent to replace the figure of Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Dur.

"All thoughts, ways of acting and acting can be a reference in solving various problems of the nation," he said remembering the figure of Gus Dur at the Grahadi State building in Surabaya, quoted by Antara, Friday, December 31.

On December 30, 2009, or 12 years ago, Gus Dur, who was the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia, died, and on December 31, 2009 he was buried in the Tebu Ireng Islamic Boarding School complex, Jombang Regency.

Governor Khofifah invited the Indonesian people to adopt the exemplary values and thoughts inherited by Gus Dur.

According to him, during his lifetime, Gus Dur always echoed the values of humanity, pluralism, inclusiveness and tolerance.

These values, said Khofifah, will continue to be relevant to the situation and conditions in Indonesia, which is pluralistic with the diversity of religions, ethnicities, nations, cultures and customs.

"Including various problems and conflicts due to the strengthening of identity politics, radicalism, and various negative impacts in the era of information disruption," he said.

Khofifah, who is also the General Chair of the NU Muslimat Central Executive, admitted that she really admired Gus Dur's figure and also the values he inherited.

Gus Dur, said Khofifah, is not just the President, but the father of world humanity.

Khofifah said that Gus Dur preferred to be called a humanist rather than a pluralist figure, in fact, when he was about to die, he left a will three times asking that his tombstone be written "The Humanist Died Here".

"I only conveyed the will during the 5th Haul, when I was asked to give a testimony speech near his tomb in Tebuireng," said the first female governor in East Java.
