JAKARTA - Police are investigating the cause of the burning of the AGO (AGO) building. The investigation was carried out by dividing the two teams.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Yusri Yunus said the first team would study the construction of the AGO building that caught fire on Saturday, August 22 evening.

"The first is the Puslabfor and Inafis teams move first to check the construction of the building, now the first team is still working to check what the construction of the building resulted from the fire was like," Yusri told reporters, Monday, August 24.

From there, the investigation was continued with a second team that focused on electrical installations. This is because the initial allegation of fire originated from an electrical short circuit on the floor in one of the buildings.

"The second team will move to check, what about the electrical installation and look for the first fire source to identify whether the cause of this fire will be studied by the team," Yusri continued.

In order to facilitate the investigation process, the police built a temporary post around the AGO building, Jalan Sultan Hasanuddin, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

"(The two teams) are all led directly by the Head of the Labor and the joint team. The team has also formed a post which is also near the AGO building, near the TKP. This is a place for us to consolidate. The team is still moving easily. There are results as soon as we can convey it to the public," said Yusri .

The police have asked for information from 19 people. The witnesses being questioned were internal to the AGO.

The AGO's main building was burned down after the fire started at 19.10 WIB. The fire was successfully extinguished on Sunday, August 23 morning.

As for the renovation of the building, the AGO handed it over to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. This is because this building is included in a protected cultural heritage building.
