Anticipating Crowds On New Year's Eve, Kemayoran District Priority Security

JAKARTA - As many as 10 points of mass-prone areas in Kemayoran District are closely guarded by joint officers on the eve of the turn of 2022.

Deputy Mayor of Central Jakarta, Irwandi said that of the eight sub-districts in Central Jakarta, only the Kemayoran area was the priority in guarding. This precaution is taken to prevent crowds on New Year's Eve.

"We will continue to guard the other sub-districts, but the priority is the Kemayoran area. There are 10 points that will be guarded by three pillars, the Central Jakarta City Government, the Police and the TNI," Irwandi said when confirmed, Friday, December 31.

Irwandi said the closure of a number of access roads will be carried out such as at Jiung, the Grand Mosque, and other points. Road closures will be carried out starting at 12.00 WIB, this road closure is intended for vehicles.

"We don't want to be in debt like last year. Because the Kemayoran area is a place of escape for residents to gather after Jalan Sudirman, Thamrin is closed," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Central Jakarta Transportation Sub-dept. Wildan Anwar said that during the New Year's 2022 security, the priority was to avoid crowds, traders and illegal parking.

"The ones that are vulnerable are in the Mediterranean apartment area, Haji Ung Market, and the Grand Mosque," he said. Wildan said there are a number of road points that will be closed in the Kemayoran area on New Year's Eve.

There are three points on Jalan Convair, the Mosque Roundabout, Benjamin Suep, Jalan Apron which leads to Jalan Casa, Jalan Apron that leads to the Grand Mosque, Jalan Kemayoran Gempol or Haji Ung, Jalan Bendungan Jago and Jalan Casa towards Bendungan Jago.

"Later, joint officers will be on guard at the location. Closing it so that there are no crowds," he said.
