JAKARTA - Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas inaugurated nine kiai as Masyayikh Councils at the HM Rasjidi Auditorium, Jalan MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, Thursday, December 30.

"Law Number 18 of 2019 concerning Islamic Boarding Schools mandates the formation of the Masyayikh Assembly as an important instrument to realize the Islamic Boarding School Education Quality Assurance System," Yaqut said in a written statement received in Jakarta, reported by Antara.

Yaqut explained that the Masyaykh Council is an independent and independent institution whose membership comes from the Masyaykh Council. The mechanism for selecting the Assembly is carried out by Ahlul Halli Wal Aqdi (AHWA) who come from elements of the government, national-scale pesantren associations.

According to him, the Masyayikh Assembly is a form of state recognition of the uniqueness of pesantren education through a quality assurance process carried out from and for pesantren.

"A long process has been carried out to be able to determine the members of the Masyayikh Council, starting from the formation of the AHWA, the selection of candidates, until finally those who are selected based on the Islamic religious knowledge clump," he said.

Meanwhile, Director General of Islamic Education M. Ali Ramdhani explained that the Minister of Religion determined that the Masyayikh Council had an odd number of members, at least nine people and at most 17 people.

The determination of the Masyayikh Council for the first solemn period in 2021-2026 refers to the Decree of the Minister of Religion Number 1154 of 2021 by representing the Islamic religious knowledge group established by AHWA.

"We hope that through the momentum of the inauguration of the Masyayikh Council, we can strengthen the system and quality of pesantren, both in terms of institutions and graduates, so that in the future the contribution of the students can always answer the challenges of an increasingly complex era," said Dhani.

The nine Masyayikh Councils that were inaugurated were KH. Azis Afandi; KH. Abdul Ghoffarrozi; KH. Muhyiddin Khotib; KH. Mr. Faisal Ali; Hj. Badriyah Fayumi; KH. Abdul Ghofur Maimun; KH. Jam'an Nurchotib Mansur/Ust. Yusuf Mansur; KH. Abd. A'la Basyir; and Hj. Amrah Kasim.
