SURABAYA - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa won the 2021 Village Development Acceleration Award from the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration (Ministry of Villages PDTT).

The award was handed over by PDTT Village Minister Abdul Halim Iskandar at the Grahadi State building in Surabaya, Wednesday, December 29.

"This success cannot be separated from the hard work of all parties. So, I express my gratitude to the regents and mayors, heads of PMD services, sub-district heads, village heads, all village assistants, as well as universities so that an increase in the status of the developing village index is achieved in East Java," said Khofifah Indar Parawansa after receiving the award, reported by Antara.

According to him, equitable development in East Java continues to show positive developments, not only in urban areas, but also in rural areas.

This is evidenced by the increasing number of villages with independent and advanced status, and the absence of villages with underdeveloped and very underdeveloped status in this province.

Based on the IDM 2021 of the Ministry of Villages PDTT, said Khofifah, the number of independent and developed villages in East Java is the highest among other provinces.

This is stated in the Decree of the Director General of Village and Rural Development Number 398.4.1 of 2021 concerning the Fourth Amendment to the Decree of the Director General of Village Community Development and Empowerment Number 30 of 2016 concerning the Status of Village Progress and Independence which was released on August 19, 2021.

In the 2021 IDM data update, it was recorded that 3,269 villages in Indonesia were declared independent villages, as many as 697 villages or 21.32 percent were in East Java.

This achievement is the highest in Indonesia and followed by West Java in second place with a total of 586 villages, and Central Java with 199 villages.

In addition, villages with developed status in East Java are also recorded to dominate nationally with a total of 3,283 villages, followed by Central Java with 2,295 villages and West Java with 2,102 villages.

Khofifah is grateful that development at the rural level continues to grow, both based on the social resilience index (IKS), the economic resilience index (IKE), and the environmental resilience index (IKL) which are the basis for measuring IDM.

Meanwhile, Governor Khofifah received an award for her commitment and hard work in encouraging the acceleration of village development.

In addition to Governor Khofifah, awards were also given to 30 regional heads in East Java consisting of 29 regents and one mayor, namely Batu, who was considered successful in accelerating village development.
