MATARAM - The Mataram Search and Rescue (SAR) Office, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), has suspended the search for three crew members who were missing due to the sinking of the Light Divine Motor Ship (KM) north of Sangiang Island, Bima Regency.

Head of the Mataram SAR Office, Nanang Sigit PH, in Mataram, Wednesday said the search was stopped based on standard operating procedures (SOP) and the results of joint evaluations with the elements involved.

"We have agreed to stop the search for the three victims, which has been going on for a week with no results," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 29.

Apart from the Bima SAR post, he said, the search also involved the Maumere SAR Office, East Nusa Tenggara, and the Makassar SAR Office, South Sulawesi.

Other elements involved in the search for victims are members of the TNI, Polri, Bima SAR potential, fishermen, and local residents.

"The search was carried out, starting from the coast to the northern waters of Sangiang and Kolo, Bima Regency," he said.

Nanang added that efforts to report or disseminate information to passing ships and fishermen were also carried out in the hope of finding signs of the victim's whereabouts in the future.

"If signs are found again, search and rescue operations can be reopened," he said.
