Landslide Crashes 3 Houses Of Sukanagara Residents, Cianjur

CIANJUR - A landslide hit three houses in Pasar Village, Sukakarya Village, Sukanagara District, Cianjur Regency, West Java, causing 16 people to evacuate.

Their house was damaged by landslides. There were no casualties in the incident but material losses were estimated at hundreds of millions of rupiah.

"Four heads of families with 16 people were forced to evacuate because their houses were heavily damaged by landslides that occurred after heavy rains of a long duration," said Sukanagara sub-district head Robby Airlangga, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 29.

He explained that three houses were heavily damaged and almost collapsed due to landslides that hit the building quite hard. The owner and family members had time to get out of the house because they had heard a rumbling sound before the landslide hit their house.

"The three houses are permanent buildings. Residents whose houses were damaged were forced to flee to the village hall or their relatives who were safe from landslides," he said.

His party has reported the incident to the Cianjur BPBD and has provided food and basic necessities temporarily. His party has also submitted assistance for house repairs to the relevant agencies, so that residents can occupy their homes again.

Secretary of BPBD Cianjur, Rudi Labis said the landslide that occurred in Sukanagara District, hit three residents' houses and damaged them, 16 people fled to their relatives' houses and to the local village hall, and his party has even placed volunteers at the location for data collection and security.

"We have sent officers to the location to collect data and handle it. The officers also brought the assistance needed by the residents. Currently, the handling at the location has been carried out by Disaster Resilient Volunteers (Retana)," he said.
