The Chair Of The Pedestrian Coalition Hopes There Will Be No More Incidents Of People With Disabilities Banned From Entering The GBK Senayan Area

JAKARTA - The Chair of the Pedestrian Coalition, Alfred Sitorus, regretted the attitude of the frontliners at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Senayan, who seemed arrogant towards people with disabilities.

According to Alfred, the GBK must immediately issue an official statement and fix the problem. And stated that the GBK area was friendly to everyone. So no more arrogant officers, it's a public area.

Alfred still said that GBK is a public space of international standard, which in 2018 held the Asian Paralympic or Asian Para Games.

"And that's where actually GBK's face was shown that GBK was directed towards Inclusiveness. But with an incident like this, it immediately injured itself and GBK's face will rotate 360 degrees with this incident," Alfred told VOI, Wednesday, December 29.

Alfred considered that the GBK area should have prioritized inclusive values.

"So don't prioritize exclusive values anymore. The GBK area must be inclusive," he said.

Alfred hopes that GBK will become a public space that can be enjoyed by everyone. He also regretted the indications of discrimination experienced by friends with disabilities.

"GBK is starting to fix that there are no more arrogance officers, more humanistic how to communicate with the public," he said.
