BANDA ACEH - The Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkum HAM) through the Directorate General of Corrections has again transferred four high-risk inmates from Aceh to the Nusakambangan Prison.

"This transfer is to prevent disturbances in security and order in prisons and state detention houses," said Head of Class I Batu Jalu Prison Yuswa Panjang in a written statement from the Directorate General of Corrections quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 28.

The four inmates who were transferred have the initials D, M, HG, and CM who were sentenced to 16 years to life in prison. The four were transferred from the Class IIB Idi Prison and the Class III Lhoknga Prison to the Class IIA Special Prison in Karanganyar.

"They are convicts of narcotics cases and general criminal cases of murder which fall into the high risk category," he said.

The transfer of the four inmates was closely monitored by officers from the Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Aceh Ministry of Law and Human Rights and in collaboration with the Aceh Police Mobile Brigade.

The four inmates arrived at Wijayapura Pier, Nusakambangan, Cilacap Regency, Central Java, at around 12.45 WIB and were greeted by the Head of Class I Batu Jalu Prison Yuswa Panjang.

To ensure safety, before being transferred to the Karanganyar prison, the four first passed a physical examination and search.

Jalu said that the transfer of prisoners in the high risk category was a form of correctional commitment in preventing disturbances to order and security in prisons, including the illicit trafficking of narcotics and violence.

According to him, the transfer was in accordance with the spirit of back to basics echoed by the correctional facility.

"The Director General has appealed to us to return to the duties and functions of the correctional facilities as they should so that unwanted incidents will no longer occur," he said.
