'Fierce' In Surabaya Supports Erick Thohir As President, Believes Other Volunteers Will Appear

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir may admit that he refused to become a presidential candidate. However, a number of volunteers have started to raise flags in support of the former chairman of the 2018 Asian Games Committee.

Most recently, volunteers on behalf of the Nationalist Movement (Ganas) of the City of Surabaya made a declaration. For them, Erick is considered the most worthy figure to continue Joko Widodo.

"Pak Erick Thohir has proven his quality so far and is worthy as the successor of President Joko Widodo," said Coordinator of Ganas Surabaya Bayu Prasetyo on the sidelines of the declaration in Surabaya, East Java, Tuesday, December 28.

According to him, during his tenure as well as before serving as minister, Erick Thohir was considered to have the potential to make Indonesia more developed and its people prosperous.

"Pak Erick succeeded when he was appointed as one of the people involved in handling COVID-19 and the national economic recovery, then succeeded in becoming the chairman of the committee during the 2018 ASIAN Games. Including while serving as assistant to the current president," he said.

Not only that, he also sees Erick Thohir as a leader figure who has managerial abilities because he has proven successful as an entrepreneur, even served as President of the Inter Milan Club and general chairman of the Asian basketball association.

"And the most remarkable thing is that he has high social awareness. This makes Pak Erick acceptable in various circles," said Bayu.

Meanwhile, on that occasion, dozens of volunteers wore black T-shirts with the image of Erick Thohir and the words "The Next President".

He believes that similar declarations from various community groups in various regions in the country will support Erick Thohir running as a presidential candidate. His party has no problem with the presidential election in the next three years, Erick Thohir will be promoted by any political party.
