Discussing The Use Of Rutan, KPK Agrees To Cooperate With The Indonesian Navy

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Indonesian Navy have agreed to work together to strengthen efforts to eradicate corruption. One form of cooperation is related to the use of the detention center belonging to the Naval Military Police Center (Puspomall) to detain suspects in corruption crimes.

Chairman of the KPK Firli Bahuri said the cooperation that led to the signing of the cooperation agreement (PKS) today began with a communication made with the Chief of Naval Staff (KSAL) Admiral Yudo Margono some time ago.

"This collaboration is a follow-up to the previous communication between the KPK and the Navy Chief of Staff regarding the contribution of the Indonesian Navy in efforts to eradicate corruption," Firli said as quoted from the KPK's official statement, Tuesday, December 28.

Firli said that the use of the Indonesian Navy's detention center was important to meet the needs of the limited institution. Even so, the use of the detention center will first be confirmed by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

The KPK chairman hopes that this step will be the start of other cooperation, especially in efforts to eradicate corruption. Including matters relating to the implementation of judicial connectivity.

"KPK has the authority to coordinate the handling of cases against parties who are subject to military justice in the form of a connectivity trial," said the former Deputy for Enforcement of the KPK.

Responding to Firli, the Central Commander of the Naval Military Police (Danpuspomal) Major General Lukman also welcomed the cooperation. It is hoped that his party and the KPK can benefit from this effort.

Meanwhile, regarding the use of the Puspomal Detention Center, Lukman ensured that the installation standards had been met.

"Regarding the management of detainees, the Puspomal detention center is equipped with supporting facilities that have met the standard of detention center installations," he said.

For information, the signing of the cooperation agreement was carried out directly by the Secretary General of the KPK, Cahya Harefa, with the Danpuspomal Major General Lukman. The activity was witnessed by Firli Bahuri and his staff from both parties.
