JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is still investigating allegations of corruption in the construction of luxury toilets in Bekasi Regency, West Java. KPK Director of Enforcement Setyo Budiyanto said the investigation was continuing because a final conclusion had not been found.

"We are still in a coma, we are still in the process. We are currently carrying out several activities," Setyo told reporters as quoted from the Indonesian KPK's YouTube, Tuesday, December 28.

However, he did not elaborate further on the ongoing investigation. Setyo only said that the summons for clarification of the related parties and the collection of evidence continued to be found so that conclusions could be drawn immediately.

"So the process is not yet at the conclusion point but is still at the stage of the investigation process," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK admitted that it was investigating allegations of corruption related to the construction of toilets in a number of schools in Bekasi Regency, West Java, which cost up to IDR 96.8 billion. This investigation was carried out because of the large number of public reports that were submitted to the anti-corruption commission.

The construction project for toilets in elementary schools (SD) or junior high schools (SMP) in Bekasi Regency has become a public spotlight. The reason is that the project budget reaches tens of billions of rupiah for 488 toilets.
