MEDAN - Police arrested a man who tied the hands and feet of a boy in Loloana'a Village, Alasa District, North Nias Regency, North Sumatra. The perpetrator admitted that he was annoyed that the victim, who was tied up in a mud-covered condition, ate the crackers.

"The perpetrator, namely RH, 52. He was secured at his home in Loloana'a Village, Alasa District, North Nias Regency, Friday, December 24, in the early hours of the morning," said Paur, Sub Division of Public Relations of the Nias Police, Aiptu Yadsen Hulu confirmed by VOI, Monday, 27 December.

Aiptu Yadsen explained that the perpetrator was the victim's uncle. The motive of the perpetrator who had the heart to tie his nephew to a tree was only because the victim stole snacks from RH's shop.

"The victim took and ate crackers in the perpetrator's shop without the perpetrator's permission. That made the perpetrator emotional and angry and then abused the victim," he explained.

Aiptu Yadsen said the victim had been living with the perpetrator. This happened because the victim's father left and his whereabouts were unknown. In addition, the victim's mother has also remarried and her whereabouts are unknown.

"Since the victim's mother remarried in 2018, the victim lived with and was cared for by the perpetrator RH," continued Aiptu Yadsen.

The perpetrator is currently being held at the Nias Police Station. For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 80 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 76 c of Law No. 17 of 2016 concerning child protection or Article 44 paragraph 1 of Law No. 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence.
