JAKARTA - The Chief of Naval Staff (KSAL) Admiral Yudo Margono, said that the Navy Service housing located in the Ciangsana area, Gunung Putri, Bogor Regency, West Java, could be used as an example of religious tolerance.

This was conveyed by the KSAL when inaugurating the Ciangsana Navy Ecumenical Fellowship Church "POUK" and the Consistory Assembly Office, at the Indonesian Navy Service Housing Complex, Ciangsana, Gunung Putri, Bogor, West Java, Monday, December 27.

Tolerance between religious communities was clearly illustrated when the KSAL after inaugurating the church, accompanied by Main Headquarters Officials inspected the place of worship for Hindus at Pura Satya Loka Archana which is located opposite the church.

Then visit the As-Salam Mosque which is also in the Ciangsana Navy Service Housing Complex and is only about 50 meters from the temple.

In his remarks, Admiral Yudo hoped that the worship facilities could provide a cool heart for Christians, especially soldiers and their families in the Ciangsana area.

According to him, Indonesia as a country with a myriad of differences, including differences in beliefs, is very important to maintain and strengthen tolerance among religious believers. The seeds of intolerance will give birth to narrow fanaticism that can damage the joints of national unity and integrity.

"These differences have become a very deep awareness of the founders of this Republic so that Bhinneka Tunggal Ika is used as the nation's motto," said Yudo.

He argues that moral and spiritual mentality is the foundation of the human personality which greatly influences character and behavior.

Good morals and mental spirituality will form a positive character, and in the end will give birth to behavior that is much more beneficial, including Jalasena soldiers.

"Moral and mental spiritual development within the Navy must be the main thing that is carried out continuously and consistently as part of the development of Human Resources (HR)," he said.
