JAKARTA - The General Chair of the Ummat Party, Ridho Rahmadi, criticized the 20 percent presidential nomination threshold. He said this rule was haphazard and unreasonable.

"The democratic system, especially for the presidential election, also seems chaotic, there is a high presidential threshold, 20 percent of the seats acquired or 25 percent of the accumulated national vote and if the party wants to nominate the president, it must be based on the 2019 election, it doesn't make sense," Ridho said in a video on Twitter. his instagram account, @ridhorahmadiofgicial, which was viewed on Monday, December 27th.

The son-in-law of Amien Rais admitted that he had read the decision of the Constitutional Court regarding the presidential threshold. He also questioned the vote base of 2019 voters used for 2024.

"One of the decisions of the Constitutional Court I read at that time. That they claimed the voters in 2019 were aware that their votes would be used in 2024. Anyone aware that their votes would be the basis for their candidacy? No. No one was aware," said Ridho.

Ridho said the Ummat Party would also submit a judicial review related to the zero percent presidential threshold rule as well as the basis for the presidential candidacy.

"So, God willing, as our real contribution before 2024 in the context of a healthy democracy, we will propose a judicial review, God willing. Two clauses, the first clause is the presidential threshold so that it is 0 percent. " he explained.

In fact, Ridho wondered why the Chairman of the Ummat Party Syuro Council, Amien Rais, would not be nominated as president.

"If God allows, why don't we dream of Amien Rais becoming president?" he concluded.
