Anies Disagrees With Provincial Minimum Wage Revision, DPRD: Don't Play With The Rules For Imaging

JAKARTA - Commission B of the DKI Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) summoned the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government to ask for an explanation regarding the decision of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan which revised the increase in the provincial minimum wage (UMP) in 2022 to 5.1 percent.

To the DKI Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Office (Disnakertransgi), Secretary of Commission B of the DKI Regional House of Representatives, Pandapotan Sinaga, regretted Anies' attitude for not following the central government's rules in formulating the UMP amount.

In this case, the Ministry of Manpower instructs the regions to formulate the amount of the wage increase by Government Regulation Number 36 of 2021.

Pandapotan also suspects that Anies' revision of the UMP increase was based on mere imagery. In fact, this violates the rules of the central government.

"Don't play with the rules for imaging. It could be a commotion, sir. It's not good, sir, to use the rules for imaging today", said Pandapotan at the DKI Regional House of Representatives Building, Monday, December 27.

Pandapotan also responded to Anies' statement that he revised the UMP amount based on wanting to provide justice. In fact, he considers that the revised UMP increase is unfair to small entrepreneurs.

"When we talk about justice, justice is not just one group, all groups. Because the governor is managing the policies he makes, managing the citizens, that's what I love", said Pandapotan.

It is known, Anies changed the UMP increase from 0.85 percent initially to 5.1 percent. In 2021, DKI's UMP is IDR 4,416,186. If it increases by 0.85 percent or IDR 37,749, the 2022 UMP will become IDR 4,453,935. Then, when Anies raises 5.1 percent or IDR 225,667, the UMP for DKI next year will be IDR 4,641,854.

The determination of the revised UMP increase was taken from a study by Bank Indonesia which stated that Indonesia's economic growth projection in 2022 will reach 4.7 percent to 5.5 percent and inflation will be controlled at 3 percent.
