SOLOK - The city government through the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Solok City, West Sumatra, handed over humanitarian aid in the form of one ton of rendang and cash for victims of the natural disaster of Mount Semeru's eruption in Lumajang, East Java.

Head of the Prevention and Preparedness Section, Fera Zuana, said that the assistance in the form of one ton of rendang was an initiative of the Solok Mubalig Brotherhood (PMS) and cash assistance came from the Solok City Government.

"Alhamdulillah, the assistance was immediately delivered by a number of BPBD and PMS teams to Lumajang. The rendang was also directly distributed to refugee tents," he said, quoted by Antara, Monday, December 27.

This rendang aid is considered very suitable for the victims of the eruption of Mount Semeru because it is food that can last for a long time, which is about four to six days.

Fera Zuana hopes that the assistance in the form of one ton of rendang and the cash that has been handed over can ease the burden on the people who are victims of the Semeru eruption in Lumajang.

He also appreciated the Solok Mubalig Association for taking the voluntary initiative to help the victims of the Semeru eruption in Lumajang.

"We really appreciate PMS' concern for the Lumajang people who have experienced a disaster, hopefully it can ease their grief," he said.

Meanwhile, the social awareness movement that was initiated by the PMS collected donations from a number of regions in the form of people from Solok City, Solok Regency, and from South Solok Regency.

The social activity is in collaboration with mass organizations, mushala and mosque administrators, as well as study congregations in the Solok Raya area.

The assistance in the form of rendang which was sent to Lumajang was cooked by the PMS management together with the local community.
