Nine Million Donated Vaccines Arrive In Indonesia, There Are Moderna Vaccines And AstraZeneca Vaccines

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) said nearly nine million doses of vaccines from neighboring countries had arrived in Indonesia on Sunday, December 26. Among the vaccine brands that arrived were Moderna Vaccine and AstraZeneca Vaccine.

"All the vaccines that come are donations from friendly countries through the COVAX facility," said Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Vaccination of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi in a written statement from Kominfo received in Jakarta, Sunday.

Nadia said that at the arrival of the 176th stage, Indonesia received 1,420,600 doses of the Moderna vaccine. This type of vaccine is a donation from the French government through COVAX.

At the arrival of the 177th stage, the United States through COVAX has provided 234,000 doses of the vaccine and in the 178th stage it has provided 3,086,460 doses. Meanwhile, in the 179th stage, the country received 4,244,200 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from the governments of Germany and Greece.

"For this arrival, the Indonesian government expresses its gratitude to the Governments of France, Germany, the United States and Greece," he said.

According to him, the COVID-19 pandemic is a global problem that must be tackled together by all nations, including vaccination efforts. Through COVAX or COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access, which is a global initiative aimed at equal access to COVID-19 vaccines, efforts are made to achieve equal access to vaccines for the nations of the world.

On that occasion, he also emphasized that the Indonesian government continues to seek the arrival of vaccines, both through bilateral and multilateral channels.

Until now, there have been a number of vaccine brands that have been imported. All have been tested for safety and efficacy. Therefore, he asked the public not to be picky about vaccines.

"The sooner we get the vaccine, the more protected we will be, not only for ourselves, but also for those around us," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the Omicron variant in Indonesia, Nadia appealed to the public to remain vigilant with its very fast spread. The public is also asked to postpone travel abroad and be disciplined in carrying out health protocols and immediately following the COVID-19 vaccination.

“Self-awareness not to travel first must be done. Especially in the midst of this Christmas and New Year holiday. It is important for us to take care of each other,” said Nadia.
