JAKARTA - A Fortuner car plunged into a pool of water at the Horse Statue Roundabout, Jalan MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, Sunday, December 26, morning. Allegedly, the single accident occurred because the driver fell asleep.
The Head of Sub-Directorate for Bin Gakkum Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Argo Wiyono, said the incident was caused because the driver was out of control because the weather was drizzling. Fortuner car number plate B 1893 KLT, driven by AF.
"The reason was that the tires were thin, and the driver was a little sleepy. The weather was drizzling and there were puddles," said Argo on Sunday, December 26.
Argo further explained that the black Fortuner car initially drove from the south to the north on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan.
However, when he arrived near the Jalan MH Thamrin Fountain or around the Horse Statue, it was suspected that the driver lacked concentration or caution so the Fortuner car hit the pavement.
"After hitting the pavement, the car entered the fountain in the Horse Statue area. There were no fatalities, the driver with the initials AF survived and only the vehicle was damaged," said Argo.
