JAKARTA - Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger donated 25 modest homes to homeless veterans in Los Angeles, United States on Christmas Eve.

"It was wonderful to spend time with our heroes and welcome them to their new home," Schwarzenegger wrote on Twitter, citing the Korea Times Dec. 25.

"For me, this is the greatest Christmas gift," he continued.

The former actor is understood to have donated $250,000 to build the house, which was handed over days before Christmas, Fox 11 Los Angeles reported.

Videos posted on social media show the interior of the tiny house, which is equipped with electricity, cooling and heating, and can accommodate veterans and their animals.

To note, the City of Los Angeles remains a hub for homeless veterans struggling to find services.

In July, Governor Gavin Newsome signed off on a $12 billion investment to tackle homelessness, with $5.8 billion used to create new housing units.

According to the Hope of the Valley Rescue mission, there are more than 60,000 homeless people in Los Angeles County, with about 14,000 of them living on the streets around downtown Los Angeles.

The first Tiny Home Village by rescue mission was launched in February. To date, the mission has six small villages with 908 beds.
