JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian has asked various parties to gang up on the vaccination program in four regions in the Maluku Province in order to achieve the target of at least 70 percent by the end of 2021.

"Let's work together so that the vaccination achievement in these four districts can reach a minimum target of 70 percent," said Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, while chairing the Coordination Meeting for Acceleration of Vaccinations at the Maluku province in Ambon City, quoted by Antara, Friday, December 24.

The four regions in Maluku whose vaccination achievement is still below 50 percent are Central Maluku, West Seram (SBB), East Seram (SBT) and Tual City.

"The regents and mayors of the four regions in Maluku are not so optimistic that the vaccination will not reach the target of at least 70 percent by the end of the year because of the difficult terrain as archipelagic areas and mountainous areas that are difficult to reach," he said.

The achievement of vaccination in the four regions until the end of 2021 is targeted to only reach 50 percent to 62 percent.

Meanwhile, the other six regencies, namely Southeast Maluku, Southwest Maluku, South Buru, Buru Island, Tanimbar Islands and Aru Islands are optimistic to reach 70 percent, but require the support of other parties, especially the TNI-Polri, the Attorney General's Office and the Regional National Intelligence Agency (Binda).

Therefore, the Minister of Home Affairs asked all parties to collaborate and gang up on the vaccination program together in 10 of the 11 regions in Maluku province so that they can achieve the targets set by the government.

"The Governor of Maluku, Pangdam, Kapolda, Kabinda, Wakajati are committed to gang up on these areas so that they can exceed the target. Hopefully with this scenario and cooperation we can reach 70 percent by the end of the year, with six days remaining," he said.

The former National Police Chief even suggested the Nataru (Christmas and New Year) vaccine program. "Coincidentally, in Natan's atmosphere, we made a vaccination for Nataru. We think this vaccine is part of a procession or even a Christmas and New Year gift. This is for the benefit of the people themselves," said the Minister of Home Affairs.
