BANGLI - Rain with hail in Bangli, Bali. Hail rains previously occurred in Malang and Banyuwangi, East Java.

The Head of the Emergency and Logistics Section of the Bangli Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Ketut Agus Sutapa said he had not received any information on the impact of the hail.

"There is no cause of damage, only particles such as ice after reaching the earth have destroyed themselves," said Sutapa, Friday, December 24.

The hail phenomenon has occurred in Bangli District, Bangli Regency in 2007 and 2019.

"In my area, it happened twice in Bangli sub-district without causing any damage," said Sutapa.

Meanwhile, the Data Coordinator of the Regional III Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Center (BBMKG) Denpasar, Bali, Dwi Hartanto explained that hail is a natural weather phenomenon that usually occurs and is included in extreme weather events.

"Hail occurs because of cumulonimbus clouds. In these clouds there are three kinds of particles, namely water droplets, super cold water droplets, and ice particles. Heavy rain which is still in the form of solid particles, either ice or hail (hail) can occur, depending on the weather conditions. the formation and growth of the cumulonimbus clouds. This is also due to the high downward flow of air from the cumulonimbus clouds," said Dwi.

The phenomenon of hail depends on the formation of cumulonimbus clouds. If you have a high downward airflow plus a sufficiently high land temperature, this phenomenon will occur again.

"(This phenomenon) will still occur (in Bali). However, it depends on the formation of cumulonimbus clouds. If the cumulonimbus clouds have a high downward airflow, also supported by fairly cold land temperatures, hail will fall," said Dwi.
