Serving 156 Villages, Rejang Lebong Only Has 32 Family Planning Extension Workers

REJANG LEBONG - Rejang Lebong Regency in Bengkulu Province only has 32 family planning instructors (KB) to serve residents in 156 villages/kelurahan in 15 sub-districts.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Office for Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning, Rejang Lebong Regency, Zulfan Efendi.

"Currently, the number of family planning extension workers in Rejang Lebong Regency is only 32 people, the number continues to decrease because some have retired, moved or died, while there are no additions," he explained in Rejang Lebong, quoted from Antara, Friday, December 24.

According to him, 32 family planning instructors, all of whom are already civil servants, are placed in 15 family planning centers in each sub-district. Currently, every family planning instructor at the family planning center has to serve residents in five to six villages/kelurahan.

In fact, continued Zulfan, ideally each extension worker can serve a maximum of two villages/kelurahan. To help family planning instructors carry out their task of socializing the family planning program and the proud golden program in villages and sub-districts, the local government this year provided operational vehicles.

"This is a 2021 procurement sourced from DAK, in the form of procuring six units of motorized vehicles, we have distributed five units to family planning instructors and one more unit is still in the office," he said.

In addition, according to him, local governments provide assistance in the form of computers and supporting equipment to access the internet and projectors for each family planning center.

"We also procured 15 units of computers along with supporting equipment (to access) the internet, and each (hall) also received a projector unit," he said.
