BMKG Weather Forecast: Moderate To Heavy Rain Colors The Weather Situation Ahead Of Christmas

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that some parts of Indonesia will experience moderate to heavy rains in parts of the capital city and the eastern sea ahead of the 2021 Christmas celebrations.

Quoting Antara, from the www.bmkg.go.id page, the potential for rain with moderate to a heavy intensity that can be accompanied by lightning has the potential to occur in the West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Southeast Sulawesi, and Maluku regions due to the suspected influence of tropical cyclone seeds in the eastern sea area.

Then the potential for strong winds can occur in the areas of East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, South Sulawesi, and Southeast Sulawesi.

The BMKG has detected a suspected tropical cyclone seed area in the East Sea region that has the potential to develop into a tropical cyclone within the next 24-72 hours.

The suspected area tends to move away from Indonesian territory to the south-southwest to Australian waters. However, during the development period to become a tropical cyclone, it is necessary to watch out for the potential for moderate to heavy rain accompanied by lightning, strong winds, and high waves.

BMKG also monitors that there are still 98W cyclone seeds growing in the North Pacific Ocean region of Papua which have an indirect impact on the weather in Indonesia in the form of waves with a height of 1.5 to 2.5 meters in the northern waters of Sulawesi, Maluku waters, Halmahera waters, and other coastal waters, West Papua.

In addition, the potential for waves with a height of 2.5 to 4 meters has the potential to occur in the northern Pacific Ocean region of Jayapura.

Weather forecasts for the Sumatra Island region need to be aware of the potential for rain with moderate to heavy intensity accompanied by lightning and strong winds in the areas of West Sumatra, Riau, Bengkulu, Jambi, Bangka Belitung Islands, and Lampung.

The same potential can also occur in most areas of the island of Java from Banten to East Java. Most areas of Kalimantan Island also have the same potential, including most of Bali and West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi, except for Gorontalo and most of North Maluku, Papua, and West Papua.

Meanwhile, the weather forecast at the provincial capital level in Indonesia is dominated by light rain in Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Palangkaraya, Samarinda, Tarakan, Tanjungpinang, Ambon, Mataram, Jayapura, Manokwari, Pekanbaru, Mamuju, Manado and Padang.

Meanwhile, the forecast is for heavy rains accompanied by lightning in the capital cities in Indonesia, including Bengkulu, Jambi, Banjarmasin, Lampung and Kupang.

Sunny and cloudy weather is forecast in Banda Aceh, Denpasar, Gorontalo, Ternate, Kendari and Medan.

The average temperature situation in big cities ranges from 19 to 33 degrees Celsius with humidity levels varying from 60 to 100 percent.
