JAKARTA - The Head of the Expert Team for the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 Prof Wiku Adisasmito said the government had prepared quarantine facilities in sufficient numbers to deal with a potential spike.

"Quarantine facilities for overseas travelers are sufficient," said Wiku Adisasmito when delivering a press statement on the development of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, which was followed by the BNPB YouTube in Jakarta, Thursday, December 23.

Wiku said 'traffic quarantine' data from Angkasa Pura 2 predicts an increase in the need for quarantine facilities above December 20, 2021, compared to the previous situation.

The spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force indicated that public interest in traveling between countries was still high, regardless of the reasons for mobility.

To accommodate this need, said Wiku, the COVID-19 Task Force in collaboration with related parties seeks to increase the availability of quarantine facilities around the arrival gate area, both air, sea, and land.

According to Wiku's presentation slide, there are eight quarantine facilities currently provided by the government. Namely, the Wisma Atlet COVID-19 Emergency Hospital with a capacity of 4,916 beds, Wisma Atlet Pademangan 5,796 beds, and hotel facilities with a total capacity of 16,588 beds.

The Pasar Rumput Flat with 11,892 beds, the Nagrak Cilincing Flat with 2,352 beds, as well as the two newest facilities in the 1,500-bed Daan Mogot Flat and the 480-bed Education Quality Assurance Institution (LPMP) building.

"In addition to quarantine facilities, the COVID-19 Task Force also monitors the implementation of the health screening flow so that it can run conducive in the field," he said.

According to Wiku, monitoring was carried out to prevent crowds due to long queues of passengers. For this reason, a special flow of mobilization is prepared from getting off the plane to the quarantine area to suppress the potential for transmission as much as possible.

"The results of this morning's monitoring show that Soekarno-Hatta airport conditions are quite conducive and under control. However, the government still urges the public not to travel abroad if it is not urgent. If you want to go on a tour, you should take advantage of domestic tourist attractions and stick to health protocols," he said.
