Acting Governor Of South Sulawesi Bans New Year Celebrations Prevent COVID-19

MAKASSAR - Acting Governor of South Sulawesi Andi Sudirman Sulaiman emphasized the ban on New Year celebrations, especially in crowded places as an anticipation and control over the spread of COVID-19.

Andi Sudirman Sulaiman conveyed this when he was the Inspector of Ceremonies at the Ceremony to Hold the 2021 Lilin Central Police Operations Forces, 2021 Christmas Security and 2022 New Years at Karebosi Field Makassar, Wednesday, December 23.

"Of course, we are aware that together with the new variant of Omicron, it has been identified as entering Indonesia, and we hope that South Sulawesi will remain protected and remain in a calm atmosphere and most importantly, how the community members remain obedient," he said, quoted by Antara.

In addition to the ban on New Year's celebrations, the Acting Governor also conveyed several other rules ahead of Christmas and New Years. namely the regulation on the maximum capacity of visitors to crowded places, including shopping centers, such as malls and others, still having to maintain conditions at the situation of 75 percent of visitors by enforcing an open and close system.

"Of course we expect the TNI/Polri and all ranks, the Civil Service Police and the Transportation Agency to make arrangements for opening and closing as enforced to maintain the condition of visitors in a situation that is allowed at the 75 percent level," he said.

Furthermore, visitors are required to use the Peduli Protect application in all places including restaurants, shopping centers/malls and others so that it is easy for residents to control.

Finally, carrying out social activities, it is allowed to operate with a maximum of 50 visitors and must continue to use the PeduliLindung application with strict health protocols.

The Acting Governor of South Sulawesi hopes that the TNI-Polri ranks and all relevant agencies in handling the turn of the year and Christmas 2021 are well guarded, safe and orderly and smoothly and avoided from the practice of radicalism, violence and drugs and others.

Likewise, the community can participate in maintaining environmental security because of course the security process cannot be carried out without broad support from the community.

"We hope that the implementation of forced security will be wise and prudent with a persuasive approach to the whole community," continued Andi Sudirman.
