Anies: National Police Chief Orders Security At 54,959 Objects At Christmas And New Year

JAKARTA - The National Police Chief General Lisyo Sigit Prabowo stated that 54,959 objects would be secured during the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year holidays.

This was stated in the message from the National Police Chief read by DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan while leading the 2021 Lilin Jaya Operation at Metro Jaya Police, Thursday, December 23.

"The focus of security is 54,959 objects throughout Indonesia, including churches, tourist attractions, shopping centers, objects for New Year celebrations, terminals, ports, train stations, and airports," said Anies.

In the security scheme, as many as 177,212 joint personnel will be deployed. They will be on standby at 19,464 security posts and 1,082 service posts.

"This operation involved 177,212 joint security personnel, consisting of 103,000 Polri personnel, 19,000 TNI personnel, and 55,000 personnel from related agencies, including the Civil Service Police Unit, Transportation Service, Health Service, Scouts, firefighters, Linmas, Senkom, and other agencies," said Anies.

Then, the Lilin Jaya 2021 Operation will also last for 10 days starting from December 23, 2021, to January 2, 2022.

On the other hand, this operation is also carried out because based on data, people will move around during Christmas and New Year. So, it is considered that a security pattern is needed.

"Based on data from the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, it is predicted that around 11 million people will carry out mobility during the Christmas and New Year holiday period," said Anies.

Moreover, it is feared that community mobility could cause several problems. One of them is the spread of COVID-19.

"It has the potential to cause disturbances in public security and order (Kamtibmas) and order and smooth traffic (Karlantas Kanseltib), as well as the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic," said Anies.
