Gus Yahya Wants To Strengthen Nahdliyin's Participation In Helping The Poor

LAMPUNG - PBNU General Chair candidate Yahya Cholil Staquf already has an agenda if elected to continue the PBNU leadership stick, which is to strengthen Nahdliyin's participation in helping the poor.

"What NU can do is consolidate community participation to help the state in overcoming this poverty problem. But the state must have a clear agenda on how to deal with poverty," said the man who is familiarly called Gus Yahya in Lampung, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, 22 December.

Gus Yahya said that the constitution explained that the poor, the poor, and the neglected are the responsibility of the state in managing them.

But as an element of society, PBNU must participate in assisting the government in alleviating the poor.

"Then, NU as an element of civil society will later participate in and contribute to implementing the state's agenda in this matter," he said.

When asked about contestation, Gus Yahya said that in a democracy stage, competition is a normal thing. Although successively convincing the muktamirin in collecting votes, after that the contestants embraced each other for the sake of organization.

"What I have done so far is that I invite PWNU and PCNU to make a new agreement that we must work on together, especially in welcoming the 100th century," he said.

"Most often it comes, there is smoother, more meaningful communication from PBNU to the branches. I offered a strategy at the branch level then PBNU grew its needs with branches. Maybe so far it has not been smooth, because the branches think about themselves, what PBNU does, the branches don't know ," he said.
